Idea # 1

A attempt to see a mind breaking down but in real time. A guy walks up to a door in the night preparing to pick up his date for the evening. Most would agree meeting a girl or guy for the first time is nerve racking, so I would like to simulate his break down on her door step. He walks up to the door and looks cool and calm. He knocks on the door and waits for her to come. During this time I want to have the film jump around showing him in different positions of how nervous he really is. In one scene he is is pacing, in another he is checking to see if his breath is fresh. A funny scene will be of him actually crying against the wall. Then the door opens and he is standing there cool and calm on the outside once again. He greets the girl and they go off on their date.

  1. This is funny to me because it's this really intense idea (a mind breaking down) juxtaposed with a really clique everyday situation (a date). This makes me unsure about what kind of mood you are trying to create, at first I thought dramatic, almost scary, and by the end I was thinking humor. You could make this work, I just wouldn't make the movie drag on and on, since it is going to be pretty much one scene. I'd also like to see some metaphorical shots, like shots that represent his mind breaking down, if you can make that fit in.

  2. Definitely, this has to be a comedy. I think the idea of stress before a first date is a bit overdone but at the same time if you can give it a fresh face it doesn't matter. Just try not to be too overly cliche with anything either of the people do. Definitely make this a quick movie because it's definitely not something that can or should be drawn out.

  3. Yes, quick would be best. And humor is good, but it's also important to show the 'human' side of that kind of situation - because, let's face it, we've all been there. And something we can identify with is that level of stress and anxiety that we in one way or another have all had, and I think this is an interesting concept, and i'd like to see what you do with it.

  4. the mind breaking down is a great image generating concept but this situation doesn't remind me of that. I think of a mind breaking down when someone has tried something many times and fails... but this reminds me of the mind jittery and nervous and maybe so over activated that parts stop working.... so i think you could include shots of things flipping out... like a nervous person... for example, I'm thinking of those little wind-up toys that hop around or grease frying

  5. I agree, a more humorous mood would make the movie interesting and entertaining. However the scene you described makes me think that the film will be extremely short, around 10-30 seconds. This could work out very well but if you were aiming for something longer I think that more of the plot has to be developed.
